These photographs show the astronomical observation buildings in the National Astronomical Observatory in Mitaka, Tokyo. They were taken from 2018 to 2019.
There are several old buildings from Taisho to the early Showa era in this place, which have been preserved as registered tangible cultural properties.
Aged buildings and equipments look like as if they were frozen for nearly a hundred years, but they are still functional and keep capturing the light from the sun at every moment.
The title 8'19 " represents the duration of time (8 minutes 19 seconds) for sunlight to reach the earth.
